The masked Berlin DJ blends hyperpop and trance to silence the neigh-sayers. DJ and producer horsegiirL emerged in 2022 with the backstory to end all backstories: The world’s first (to our knowledge) half-human, half-horse DJ, she was born on Sunshine Farms and discovered at a harvest fest by Whitney Horseton. The Berlin-based musician—who is never seen without her uncannily realistic horse mask—broke through with Farm Fantasies, a collaborative EP with producer MCR-T, then released her first solo EP, v.i.p. - very important pony, in 2025. Sure, some of these barnyard hijinks are meant to be taken with a grain of salt, or cube of sugar. But on her debut album, horsegiirL makes it her mission to remind humans of their place within the natural world. Inspired by an ayahuasca ceremony in Ecuador, NATURE IS HEALING brings the sounds of trance, hyperpop and downtempo down to earth—quite literally. “fun guy fungi” is a Plantasia-esque ode to ’shrooms, while “rivers run free” is a trip-hop celebration of her favourite bodies of water. She diverts to the country club on “only the best”, where Born to Die-era Lana meets ’90s Eurodance, before dedicating a hardstyle banger to the joys and benefits of eating an apple a day.
