When The Kid LAROI popped out for a surprise performance at the National Rugby League’s grand final in Sydney in October 2024, the Aussie native sported a hoodie printed with the original title of his next album, Watch This!. That album was ready to turn in by the middle of 2025, but suddenly, the 22-year-old musician had a change of heart. Scrapping all but one of the songs that he had already completed, The Kid LAROI spent the next three months recording a brand-new album inspired by a recent breakup. On the final version, BEFORE I FORGET, LAROI wears his broken heart on his sleeve with wistful, nostalgic R&B ballads that wonder where it all went wrong. He riffs on Coldplay’s “Fix You” over a moody KBeaZy production on “A COLD PLAY”, sends faded late-night texts on “COME DOWN” and vows to keep his next love out of the spotlight on “PRIVATE”. “I’M SO IN LOVE WITH YOU”, the sole survivor from the scrapped album, stands as a bittersweet testament to what once was.
