Génesis (cover) - Single

In 1969, Puerto Rican singer Lucecita Benitez knew she’d win the Festival Mundial de la Canción Latina if she managed to get composer Guillermo Venegas Lloveras to give her a song he’d played for her (“Génesis”), but he’d already promised it to another performer. Lucecita persisted. Lloveras relented and granted her the tune, which she learned on her way to Mexico with the goal of returning home with the trophy. More than 50 years later, RaiNao considers the classic bolero as an ode to love that reminds her of her childhood—her father would sing it to her, and, in awe of the song’s passion, she found herself wanting to sing it, too. With this cover version, the “roadhead” and “BSUKEO” singer has finally achieved that dream. For RaiNao, the song reaffirms that “change is not contradicting oneself, but growing,” she tells Apple Music. Surrounded by powerful women, including her friends and family, the Santurce native sees “Génesis” as a celebration of “the most beautiful and accurate representation of love”.
