By the time Idan Raichel released Quarter to Six in 2013, he had a decade-long reputation for assembling breathtaking international talent (i.e. the "Project" in his band name) to flesh out his gorgeously hushed compositions. The album introduces several instant classics to his canon of Israeli folk, pop and jazz—among them "Achshav Karov", with its fluttering flute and windswept melody and "Ba Layla", with its mournful strings and existential lyrics. Collaborators include singer Mira Awad, guitarist Vieux Farka Touré and many more.
