14 Songs, 47 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Israeli fusion bandleader Idan Raichel introduces Latin and Creole music to his repertoire for third album, Within My Walls. Colombian vocalist Marta Gómez and Cape Verdean singer Mayra Andrade are among the collaborators on a record that eschews Raichel’s usual electronic arrangements for a more acoustic treatment. Dancing between styles with ease, Raichel moulds his songs to the contours of his vocal collaborators, whether it’s Maya Avraham’s lament on flamenco-tinged “Shev” or the sunny textures of Anat Ben Hamo’s “Mai Nahar".
