Punchbuzz

Punchbuzz

There’s a dusky warmth that permeates this indie folk band whose patient pursuit of sublime sound recalls The Shins and Fleet Foxes. Punchbuzz finds them expanding outside their comfort zone, pushing the tempos and experimenting with different textures and rhythms. “Ghost” gallops in, clearing the air with catchy lines like “All my friends are splinters in the fire/I’m going to sit right here until you come back”. “Shark Fin” sounds like LCD Soundsystem if they'd banished to the wilderness. That’s not to say Husky’s given up on folk. For every bold step off the beaten path, there’s a “Cut the Air” or “Cracks in the Pavement” that brings them back to folk terra firma.
