About Karel Havlíček

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember sitting in a music school hallway, staring at a poster of Duke Ellington on a camel heading for the Great Pyramid. It felt surreal—like music could take you anywhere. In that moment, I knew I wanted to make music my life. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Depeche Mode, The Best of Depeche Mode, Vol. 1 (Deluxe) The Cure, The Cure: Greatest Hits Various Artists, 50 of the Best: Chopin My musical roots go back years. The albums that shaped me most were the ones I listened to as a teenager—Disintegration by The Cure, 101 by Depeche Mode, and recordings of Frédéric Chopin, which taught me emotion through simplicity. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Above Ground” I wrote Above Ground in a downtown Los Angeles skyscraper, watching trained bald eagles circle the towers high above. Their freedom and calm thrilled me, floating silently over the restless pulse of the city below. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of my recent concerts was at O2 Universum in Prague—3,500 people, an 80-piece orchestra. Playing with such a force feels like speaking to eighty voices at once, perfectly listening, never interrupting. It was pure emotion, almost unreal. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I want to score ambitious international films where music carries real emotional and narrative weight. I’m drawn to bold visual storytelling and projects where the score becomes an essential part of the film’s identity.
