About Roy Milton
With his group the Solid Senders, drummer/singer Roy Milton was a major part of the 1950s R&B scene that revolved around L.A.'s Specialty Records. He started recording in the '40s, scoring his first big hit in '46 with “R.M. Blues.” Milton and the Solid Senders were one of the biggest draws on the R&B concert circuit in the late '40s and early '50s, and his mix of jump blues and boogie woogie was a significant influence on the rock-&-roll explosion that would begin right around the time he stopped recording for Specialty.
