Hustinder Pal Singh—known to fans as simply Hustinder—is one of the most understated artists in the Punjabi music industry. His soft-spoken demeanour could perhaps be attributed to the fact that he enjoyed success after a few years of struggle. Though he took part in the third season of the reality TV music talent competition Voice of Punjab in 2012 and released his first single a couple of years after, it wasn’t until 2019 that he broke through with the bhangra-flavoured “Pind Puchdi”. Hustinder’s star has been on the rise ever since, and he’s garnered a loyal fanbase thanks to a unique strategy of concentrating on albums and EPs over singles. Each of his collections, whether it’s 2020’s romantic Sadiyan Gallan EP or 2023’s festive Mahol, displays a natural ease across folk, pop and hip-hop. And that versatility comes packaged with a refreshing warmth and vulnerability.
