About Jake Dodds

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As a kid we would stay with my grandparents Saturday nights and watched The Statler Brothers Show and Grand Ole Opry. My grandpa had been in a band and loved country music. He was always singing small parts of funny songs to us on Sunday mornings. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Eric Church, Chief Kenny Chesney, Best of Kenny Chesney Ronnie Dunn, Re-Dunn I'm a sucker for a country remake every time and listen to Ronnie Dunn sing almost anything. I love anything Kenny Chesney. Usually like the album cuts more. The Chief album was prime Church for me. Probably played it on repeat for a year. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Prettier in Michigan” I feel like I usually write too straight forward. Prettier is taking something real and expanding on it for broader way to connect with anyone. Something anyone can relate too yet still uniquely mine. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Opening for Kane Brown in Dubuque, IA on a massive outdoor stage, singing my songs, but getting to cover Two Pina Coladas, a song I sang so often as a kid with a dream that no one really knew about was awesome. Playing Surf Ballroom was amazing too. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would love to be able to tour more often on my own or with someone. I would love to play an amphitheater, arena, stadium with a sold-out crowd. The biggest dream is to play the Opry: that’s Mt. Rushmore for me. Bonus points if it’s at the Ryman.
