In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Ash: When I was nine I played my first gig as 'Jake' in a tribute to The Blues Brothers! My older brother played 'Elwood' and I learnt to play blues harp especially for the show. I got paid in a gift voucher with which I bought the soundtrack on CD. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Howlin' Wolf, Howlin' Wolf Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blood Sugar Sex Magik The Black Keys, El Camino Here are 3 records that have had major influence on us. El Camino is simply stacked with bangers. Howlin' Wolf is the man and inspired our band name. Blood Sugar Sex Magik captures the Peppers at their hard-hitting retro funk metal best. Thunderous, earthy and hypnotising, we were inspired by the wild spirit of Woolamai Surf Beach and the ocean. An environmental anthem when there aren't enough to go round. A top track off our album The Mojo Funk, released 2023. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Hitting #2 on the ARIA Blues & Jazz albums chart for our 2023 album, The Mojo Funk. We also played to over 5,000 people at Grampians Grape Escape earlier in 2024. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Playing Byron Bay Bluesfest and touring Europe or North America would be the ultimate!
