Azizi Gibson

Born to a military family that moved all over the globe, rapper Azizi Gibson is a unique lyricist with a vast creative palette informed by his life experiences. • Gibson lived in Thailand, Zaire, Singapore, and Cambodia before settling in Maryland when he was 11. It was there that he became interested in hip-hop. • After dropping out of college in 2010, Gibson moved to Los Angeles with big dreams and a low-budget mixtape. • A chance meeting with Flying Lotus led to a deal with the producer’s Brainfeeder label. Gibson released his debut mixtape, Ghost in the Shell, in 2013. • Gibson dropped the Backward Books EP in 2014 and released his debut album, PreHISTORIC Till Death, in 2015. • Gibson relates to the Grim Reaper, a character who appears throughout his catalog.
