Gabriel Birnbaum

Gabriel Birnbaum is a Brooklyn musician who rose to attention fronting the experimental indie rock band Wilder Maker, while also forging a concurrent solo career as a singer/songwriter. After spending the early part of his career amid New York's avant-jazz scene, he turned to songwriting and developed a literate and detailed style. Wilder Maker found cult success with their 2018 debut, Zion, after which Birnbaum released the 2019 solo album Not Alone. His solo work paired a rugged Neil Young sensibility with eclectic lyrical narratives and smart arrangements. Several more self-released experimental solo outings followed in quick succession, after which Wilder Maker issued their acclaimed second album, 2022's Male Models. Signing with Western Vinyl, Birnbaum released the solo LP Patron Saint of Tireless Losers in 2024.
