About The Woods

Channeling wildly diverse influences that ranged from scrappy post-punk to fragile pastoral folk, the Woods were stuck in the sub-basement of the mid-'80s New York underground music scene. They only played a handful of shows and released only one single, 1985's "Miracles Tonight," before splitting up in obscurity. So Long Before Now, the 2023 collection of all their recorded output, reveals the unique spin they put on home-cooked jangle pop, adding psychedelic vocal harmonies, post-Velvet Underground drone, and tender, almost fragile melodies, ending up sounding both ahead of their time and timeless at once.
