About Luther Russell

Luther Russell is a singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, and producer who is equally comfortable with urban folk, garage-centric rock, introspective pop, and loose-limbed R&B. Russell's resume includes stints with scrappy rockers the Bootheels (featuring a pre-Wallflowers Jakob Dylan), soulful roots rockets the Freewheelers, and modern jangle pop act Those Pretty Wrongs (with Jody Stephens of Big Star). Russell kicked off his solo career with 1997's home recorded Lowdown World, and took a number of creative paths on subsequent LPs, including 2001's solo acoustic Spare Change, the rootsy pop of 2007's Repair, and the bright, ringing guitar rock of 2025's Happiness for Beginners.
