Kassa Overall

Drummer, producer, rapper, and vocalist Kassa Overall is an in-demand sideman and solo performer whose wide-ranging talents have found him playing in scenarios from post-bop and vanguard jazz to hip-hop and indie rock. Though percussion is his focus, Overall has a passion for electronic-based production using samplers and laptops. He distinguished himself as a solo artist by issuing mixtapes and the 2019 debut album Go Get Ice Cream and Listen to Jazz. He followed with I Think I'm Good in 2020. Two years after the pandemic arrived, Overall signed to Warp and issued Animals in 2023, followed by Live at Third Man Records. In 2025, he was one of six artists to win a Doris Duke Artist Award, and that September, he released the full-length CREAM, a hip-hop covers album articulated in jazz. The album title was borrowed from a 1993 song by Wu-Tang Clan.
