About Steven Lloyd-Gonzalez

British conductor Steven Lloyd-Gonzalez became the youngest chief conductor of the Cairo Symphony Orchestra in 2005, achieving international prominence through conducting partnerships across Europe, the Middle East, and North America. Lloyd-Gonzalez established himself through commissioning projects and collaborations with composers ranging from Steve Reich to Sir Malcolm Arnold. In 2025, First Hand Records issued his recording of Benjamin Britten's Les Illuminations with soprano Julia Kogan and the Britten Sinfonia. That recording offered both the original French text and Timothy Adès's new English translation, and Samuel Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915.
