About The Red Death
Taking their name from the Edgar Allan Poe short story The Masque of the Red Death, this extreme metal outfit from Bath, New York employ a lethal mix of punishing grindcore and caustic death metal. Formed in 2002 around the talents of vocalist Paul Hamblin, guitarist Josh Williammee, drummer Graham Mitchell, guitarist Brian VanGelder, and bassist Karl Janovec, the group would endure myriad lineup changes before the release of their full-length debut, External Frames of Reference, which was released in 2005 via Metal Blade. A sophomore effort, 2008's Godmakers, featured a lineup consisting of Hamblin, Mitchell, Aaron Conti (guitar), Mark Kelly (guitar), and Jordan Rathbun. The band broke up shortly after the LP's release. ~ James Christopher Monger
