About Oblivians
Throughout the 1990s Greg, Jack, and Eric--all assuming the last name Oblivian--shook Memphis rock & roll to its foundation with their blistering, brilliantlly incompetant garage punk sound. The Oblivians played punk with a blues bent and the blues with no regard for any aspect of the sound's history other than the fact that it better come from the gut. They released a slew of singles, EPs, and full-lengths before breaking up in the late '90s. Each member went on to equally inspiring endeavors, with Eric (Friedl) running Goner Records, Jack (Yarber) lending his talents to a host of Memphis projects, and Greg (Cartwright) fronting the brilliant Reinging Sound.
