About Luiz Henrique
Luiz Henrique Fernandes da Rosa was a Brazilian bossa nova singer, songwriter, and guitarist. In 1964 Henrique released his debut album A Bossa Moderna de Luiz Henrique, achieving wide national success. One year later he moved to New York, at the height of the bossa nova craze. Henrique would remain in the United States until 1971, a period that would become the highlight of his career as he recorded half-a-dozen albums and collaborated with Stan Getz, Billy Butterfield Sivuca, João Gilberto, and Airto Moreira, among others. Upon his return to Brazil in 1976, he released his final album, Mestiço. Henrique spent the rest of his life in his beloved Florianópolis, until he died in a car accident in 1985 at the age of 46.
