About Jim Ghedi

English experimental folk singer/songwriter Jim Ghedi combines deep knowledge of the tradition with contemporary electronic and rock elements for an evocative, doom-laden sound. Born in 1992 in Sheffield, he took up the guitar at the age of eight and soon became a skilled player. In 2015 he self-released his all-instrumental debut album, Home Is Where I Exist, Now to Live and Die. 2018's A Hymn for Ancient Land was also primarily instrumental, but 2021's In the Furrows of Common Place, primarily composed of Ghedi's own self-written songs, prominently featured his vocals and had a deeper, darker, more powerful sound. 2025's immense, apocalyptic Wasteland, which at times sounded closer to doom metal than folk, brought him wider recognition and overwhelming critical acclaim. Following its release, Ghedi was tapped by Hollywood director Michael Sarnoski to score his major motion picture The Death of Robin Hood.
