About Badi Assad

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my earliest musical memories is my brother Sérgio Assad recording me singing Tom Jobim's "Estrada do Sol." More than 50 years later, that childhood recording meets my adult voice on "35 Anos Musicais"—still in the same key. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bobby McFerrin, Circlesongs Egberto Gismonti, Dança Das Cabeças Tori Amos, From the Choir Girl Hotel . For its emotional honesty and fearless creativity. . A masterpiece of imagination, rhythm, and freedom. It showed me that music can create entire worlds. . For transforming the way I think about voice and improvisation. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Waves” Featured in the film "It Runs in the Family," "Waves" has grown into a conversation with nature itself. Every performance feels like a deep journey shared between the audience and me. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I've performed in more than fifty countries and released nearly thirty albums, but one moment stands apart: sharing the stage with eight members of my family. It felt less like a concert and more like witnessing a living musical legacy. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'd love to keep creating projects that bring together music, storytelling, and human connection. I'm less interested in milestones than in discovering new ways music can awaken presence, curiosity, and listening.
