About Ryan Lott

Ryan Lott is an experimental musician best known as leader of the dynamic post-rock trio Son Lux. He combines live instruments with computer-manipulated acoustic performances, samples, and his throaty, textured vocals for his project's bold, dystopic sound, which often correlates with anxious lyrics about a fearful future. These seeds were planted on 2008's At War with Walls & Mazes before 2013's more striking Lanterns featured songs that were later covered by Lorde and sampled by Fall Out Boy. Lott welcomed Rafiq Bhatia and Ian Chang into Son Lux beginning with 2015's Bones, which marked the project's debut in the Top Ten of Billboard's dance/electronic albums chart. Son Lux became Oscar nominees with their ambitious score for Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022). Lott garnered a second nomination for "This Is a Life," a collaboration with David Byrne and Mitski. Son Lux next scored the Marvel film Thunderbolts (2025).
