About Midge Ure
Midge Ure is one of the pioneering voices of new wave synth pop. Predominantly known for his work with Visage and Ultravox, the guitarist/vocalist started his career in the 1970s outfits Slik and the Rich Kids. Following his departure from Visage and a brief stint in Thin Lizzy, Ure joined Ultravox, bringing his songwriting skills to help them record a defining album of the '80s, Vienna. Alongside Bob Geldof, Ure was also instrumental in setting up Band Aid, while also co-writing the single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" By 1985, he had branched out on his own, issuing his debut album, The Gift. Over the next 30-plus years, Ure issued several albums, including 1991's Pure, 2000's Move Me, and 2017's Orchestrated. In 2023, he celebrated his 70th birthday with a one-off show in London that was captured on 2024's Live at the Royal Albert Hall. 2026's double LP, A Man of Two Worlds, became his first album of original material in 12 years.
