About Midge Ure
Predominantly known for his work with Visage and Ultravox, Midge Ure started his career in the 1970s punk outfits Slik and the Rich Kids. Following his departure from Visage and a brief stint in Thin Lizzy, Ure joined Ultravox, bringing his songwriting skills to help them record one of the defining albums of the '80s, Vienna. Alongside Bob Geldof, Ure was also instrumental in setting up Band Aid, while also co-writing the single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" By 1985, he had branched out on his own, issuing his debut album, The Gift. Over the next 30-plus years, Ure issued several albums, including 1991's Pure, 2000's Move Me, and 2017's Orchestrated. In 2023, he celebrated his 70th birthday with a one-off show in London that was captured on 2024's Live at the Royal Albert Hall.
