About Penny Arcade

Penny Arcade is a project of singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer James Hoare -- formerly of Veronica Falls, Ultimate Painting, and the Proper Ornaments -- that finds him in typically restrained, melancholy indie pop territory. Sparse and gentle, with lightly strummed guitars and Hoare's whisper of a voice, the band's first album, 2024's Backwater Collage, continued the fine work he had done previously in his other groups, while 2026's Double Exposure was rougher around the edges but still gentle and intimate.
