Amaranthe has alternated among three lead singers with contrasting styles: Henrik Englund Wilhelmsson death-metal growl, Jake E.’s “clean” vocals, and Elize Ryd soaring soprano. ∙ In 2012, Elize Ryd raised her profile when she toured and recorded with American power-metal band Kamelot. ∙ While some fans trolled Amaranthe on social media for having a female lead singer, others championed Elize Ryd, inspiring other women to follow in her footsteps. ∙ Amaranthe was named the Swedish breakthrough act of 2012 by Stockholm radio station Bandit Rock. ∙ In addition to winning the Bandit Rock & Roll Model Award, Ryd was named one of Playboy’s “Hottest Metal Maidens in Face-Melting History.” ∙ Amaranthe has had eight Gold albums and singles in Sweden and Finland, while also hitting No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart three consecutive times.
