About Matt Consola
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I was about 6 or 7 and my parents bought me a small portable record player and a few 45’s. One was The Beatles “Let It Be” and I began speeding it up and slowing it down like a DJ. It was already in my blood. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Alphaville, Afternoons In Utopia Howard Jones, Human's Lib & Dream Into Action (Live At Indig02) M83, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming Human’s Lib by Howard Jones was a pivotal album both as a songwriter & the king of synths. Afternoons was like a Broadway play written for the dance floor. And Hurry Up is pure perfection in songwriting and production. I could not live without all 3. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Coming Back (feat. Brenda Reed) (Dirty Disco Houston Eagle House Remix)” For my first solo releases, I chose to cover three songs that had massive effects on me becoming a DJ & producer. “Coming Back,” while close to the original DJ Dado version, the Dirty Disco Mix would become my piano house sound I’m most known for now What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Playing to 20,000+ people on an insane outdoor dance floor in San Francisco for SF Pride in the early 2000’s. At the same event I was also asked to substitute for a vocalist on a Vicki Shepard live performance of her #1 hit “Let’s Whip It Up” Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I was supposed to headline a club in Tel Aviv the week after 9/11. I had to give up that booking never made it back. I have headlined Folsom San Francsico many times. I would still love to play the Berlin Folsom Street Fair & clubs in Berlin.
