About Hard Candy

Hard Candy formed in 1992 when James E. Jones and Jeff Wiggins got together in Brooks County, GA. They started composing and recording in September of 1992. In September of 1994, they added a new member to their lineup, Brooke Martin. From February 1996 to June 1996 they produced some home recordings that led to the production of their debut EP, Sweatin' to the Indies. In April of 1997, Martin parted company with Hard Candy. Shortly afterward, Hard Candy released Sweatin' to the Indies. In February of 1998, Will Joiner was added to the Hard Candy lineup. Hard Candy then felt they were ready for live performances. From April to July of 1998, Hard Candy was also in the recording studio working on the album Turn Out the Flame. In August of 1998, Hard Candy contributed a song to Verfrumdungseffekt: The Songs of Stephen Merritt. In 1998 Hard Candy along with Lloyd "Buddy" Wheeler formed a record label, Screven Musical Partners, dedicated to bringing timeless pop songs to a dated populace. Hard Candy has been leading this movement known as "the Resistance," and have indeed assumed the role as "Harbingers of the Southern Glam Resistance." The official release date of the album Turn Out the Flame was October 8, 1998. ~ Larry Belanger
