Imany

Singer Imany parlayed her success as a model into a thriving music career. Her blend of folk and soul has earned her several platinum certifications in her home country of France. • Born in the Comoros Islands, off the southeastern coast of Africa, Imany grew up in France and competed as a high jumper before becoming a model and relocating to the US. After six years, she returned to France and began singing in 2008. • Taking the name Imany (Swahili for “hope”), she performed in Parisian nightclubs and released her debut EP, Acoustic Sessions, in 2010. • Her first album, The Shape of a Broken Heart, arrived the following year. It received positive reviews and went platinum in France. • She composed the soundtrack for the 2014 French film Sous les jupes des filles. The following year, a remix of the track “Don’t Be So Shy” by the Russian DJ duo Filatov & Karas went to No. 1 in several countries across Europe.
