About Shai Maestro
A virtuoso Israeli jazz pianist, Shai Maestro is a known for his expressive and nuanced style, steeped in post-bop and classical traditions. He first broke onto the scene playing with bassist Avishai Cohen's trio in 2008 and has worked with Ben Wendel, Theo Bleckmann, Oded Tzur, and others. He leads his own trio, as on 2012's The Road to Ithaca and his 2018 debut for the ECM label, The Dream Thief. Trumpeter Phillip Dizak joined him for 2021's Human, followed by the solo piano date Solo Miniatures and Tales.
