About Baby Tuckoo

UK heavy metal band Baby Tuckoo was formed in 1983 by ex-Geddes Axe guitarist/keyboard player Andrew Barrott, alongside Rob Armitage (vocals), Neil Saxton (guitar), Paul Smith (bass) and Tony Sugden (drums). They quickly established a following in their home town of Bradford, and they became part of the second-generation New Wave Of British Heavy Metal movement along with Chrome Molly and Chariot. Signed in 1984 to independent label Ultra Noise, they released an impressive debut album, First Born, which embraced British and American influences and drew comparisons with Whitesnake. Nevertheless, they were dropped by their record company soon afterwards. A second album followed in similar musical vein, and they continued to be a popular live attraction. However, the members disbanded Baby Tuckoo in 1986. Rob Armitage joined Accept for a brief spell and Barrott became a member of Chrome Molly.
