About Kabir Sehgal
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My sister brought home Miles Davis' album "Kind of Blue" when I was in second grade. That was it for me. I couldn't believe that Miles and Coltrane were improvising. It was exciting! Maybe I could create music (not just read what's on the page too). What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bill Evans Trio, Sunday At the Village Vanguard Béla Fleck & The Flecktones, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones Miles Davis, The Complete Live At the Plugged Nickel (1965) I love these albums. We get to eavesdrop on Bill Evans, Scott LaFaro, and Paul Motion making lush music at the Vanguard. We hear the audience clinking silverware, unaware they'll witness (and be part of) music history. Miles & Bela are legends. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “tell me in vaduz” I went to Vaduz, Lichtenstein and recorded the ambient sounds: wind, traffic, church bells, people talking. I layered these sounds into my remix of "Go Tell It On the Mountain." My lofi take on this song with a real field recording. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I collaborated with President Jimmy Carter on his last Sunday school sermons. I set them to music and helped produce the album "Last Sundays in Plains: A Centennial Celebration." I knew President Carter most of my life, so it was a special project. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I want to make a series of lofi albums that incorporate real field recordings as textures. I released volume 1, a lofi holiday album. And volume 2 is my remix of songs of America.
