About Conjunto Agua Azul
El Conjunto Agua Azul was formed in the mid-'70s by bandleader Mario González, but only rose to prominence 30 years later with the post-millennial Regional Mexican music boom. Originating from San Luis Potosi, the group got their start playing local fiestas and festivals and in 1980, and added frontman Francisco Laureano, and later, his son, Faustino "Tino" Laureano. At the time of Francisco's untimely passing, "Tino" stepped forward as the group's frontman. The conjunto started recording in the late '90s, and amassed a large discography quickly. Their breakthrough record, Qué Chulos Ojos, included the hit single "El Diccionario," which landed in the Top 40 on Billboard charts. ~ Evan C. Gutierrez
