Overlake

Overlake are a trio from New Jersey whose music combines the hooky melodies of indie pop with the big guitars and crashing drums of vintage shoegaze outfits. Guitarist and vocalist Tom Barrett and bassist and backing vocalist Lysa Opfer began working together when they were members of WJ & the Sweet Sacrifice, and they formed Overlake in 2012. On their debut album, 2014's Sighs, Barrett overdubbed the drum tracks in addition to handling guitar and vocals. Barrett and Opfer had a difficult time finding a drummer who understood their creative viewpoint until they met Nick D'Amore in 2015. The trio teamed with producer Tom Beaujour for Fall, released in 2017. ~ Mark Deming
