About The Ruins Of Beverast

The Ruins of Beverast are a one-man black, atmospheric doom metal band from Germany. The project was created by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Alexander von Meilenwald in 2003 as a solo project following the dissolution of his influential German black metal band Nagelfar. The name "Beverast" is a German derivation of "Bifröst" (the mythological rainbow bridge in Norse mythology uniting Midguard ans Asgard). He plays everything on TRoB's recordings (they all appear on Germany's Ván label), but has, since 2013, employed an extended lineup in live settings. Their songs offer themes of misanthropy, hatred for Christianity, psychosis, death, occult philosophy and esotericism, war, and history. The cinematic project further blends dirty vocals, tribal drumming, and sweeping choral arrangements with buzzing, distorted guitars, occasional keyboards, and blastbeats. Some of their standout recordings include 2006's Rain Upon the Impure, 2011's conceptual Blood Vaults, and 2021's The Thule Grimoires.
