About Sebastian Rochford
Sebastian "Seb" Rochford is a drummer, producer, and composer in the U.K. A first-call session musician, he has worked with dozens of artists ranging from Brian Eno to Rokia Traore. A founding member of Acoustic Ladyland and Oriole, he founded the experimental electro-jazz band Polar Bear, played in Sons of Kemet, and serves in saxophonist Andy Sheppard's quartet. Since 2019, he has been making solo recordings as Kutcha Butcha -- NDYA (2019) and Durational (2021) -- with a trio of EPs in between. In 2023, Rochford collaborated with pianist Kit Downes on A Short Diary for ECM. In 2025, Rochford founded the experimental jazz-rock band Finding Ways with bassist Anders Christensen and guitarists David Preston and Tara Cunningham. He enlisted a cast of additional guitarists that included Simon Tong, Leo Abrahams, Adrian Utley, John Parish, Matt Hurley, and Seye Adelekan; Ruth Goller guested on bass for that November's Finding Ways.
