Pip Proud

About Pip Proud

Pip Proud was an offbeat '60s poet/songwriter, crafting exploratory pop music that was released on Polydor during the period. But Proud stepped away from music for almost 30 years, re-emerging in 1995 with multi-instrumentalist Tom Carter backing him up. Proud put together Catch a Cherub during the next few years, writing and recording even after a stroke robbed him of his sight. Ironically enough, he sings about wanting to be blind on the material written before the stroke, but in good-humored fashion he kept the lyric and continued to sing it live. He released the record on Emperor Jones in 2002. ~ Bradley Torreano
