About Steve Wilson

Steve Wilson is an American jazz saxophonist and woodwind player who records solo and as a sideman. His membership in Out of the Blue, and in the bands of Jaki Byard, Frank Foster, and Ralph Peterson, established his reputation. His 1992 debut, New York Summit, was followed by Blues for Marcus (1993), Step Lively (1995), and Four for Time (1996). In 1998, Wilson played in bands led by Dave Holland and Leon Parker before joining Chick Corea & Origin. Wilson's subsequent solo releases included 2001's Passages, 2003's Soulful Song, and 2017's Sit Back, Relax & Unwind. He joined Christian McBride's band in 2020. 2023's Live at Umbria Jazz was in duo with Lewis Nash. In 2025, as a co-billed soloist, he played on Pursuit of a Pulse by Brazilian vocalist Jamile and the Miki Yamanaka Trio. 2026's Enduring Sonance showcased a star-studded quintet.
