About Sirsy

Sirsy is an Albany, New York rock band that plays modern rock with anthemic blues-inspired singing courtesy of vocalist Melanie Krahmer. The band was formed in 2000 by Krahmer along with bassist Rich Libutti, drummer Greg Nash, and guitarist Mike Steiner, but eventually became a duo of Krahmer and Libutti. (The name Sirsy came from a childhood nickname of Krahmer, whose younger sister couldn't quite pronounce "sister.") Originally the group played covers, but eventually began writing original material. The first release for the hard-working act was Baggage, released in 2000. Their next release came two years later, Away from Here, and found the band further refining their groove-oriented pop sound. That same year saw Sirsy release a three-song DVD, The Three Little Videos, and a live album, At This Time (Live). Ruby appeared in 2004, released by Sirsy's own label and produced by Krahmer and Libutti along with John Delehanty. The following year brought a pair of albums, first Covered and then Uncovered. After 2007's Revolution, the duo released only 2010's live album BYOB: Collection B, but continued touring hard and playing with a variety of bands, including Maroon 5, Cheap Trick, Blues Traveler, and Collective Soul. For 2013's Coming into Frame on the Funzalo label, Sirsy enlisted A-list producers Paul Kolderie and Sean Slade. ~ Wade Kergan
