About Mandy Kane
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Five years old, back seat of a car at night. A song came on the radio and I understood music was a place you could go. I watched the streetlights scroll past and felt the song and the lights were the same thing. I've been chasing that ever since. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Big Black Delta, Big Black Delta David Bowie, Moonage Daydream – A Brett Morgen Film Radiohead, OK Computer Big Black Delta (Big Black Delta): discovered at an important time in my life. Moonage Daydream (David Bowie): the definitive Bowie journey. OK Computer (Radiohead): the future in present tense. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Stab” 'Stab': it became my most-played track because I finally stopped being careful. There's a rawness in that chorus I'd been avoiding for years. When I hear it back now, I hear someone deciding to stop hiding. It found an audience I never expected. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Seeing Tragic Daydreams chart on the ARIAs in 2004. Before that, music felt like something only I needed. Then strangers knew the songs — people living inside something built alone. That was the shift. Before: music I made. After: music I gave away. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Perform Runestones & Keymasters live — staged, full ensemble. I've also spent years exploring artistic identity inside a machine and want to push it further. The line between where I end and where the music begins? I want to erase it completely.
