Defeated Sanity

Germany's Defeated Sanity is a technical death metal band with an idiosyncratic and intensely progressive approach. Citing Cannibal Corpse and Suffocation as influences, the group honed their churning sound in clubs and at summer music festivals. Their aggressive approach combines unusual (for metal) rhythmic signatures under brutally unclean vocals, filthy, angular guitar riffs, and a pronounced noisy bass throb. Their music crisscrosses prog, hardcore, death metal, and mutant funk. After ten years of demos they issued their debut long-player, Prelude to the Tragedy, in 2004 and followed it with Psalms of the Moribund in 2007. They won accolades for their incendiary approach and energetic stage shows. Chapters of Repugnance followed in 2010 with the widely acclaimed Passages into Deformity in 2013. After 2016's Disposal of the Dead // Dharmata, they toured for 18 months before recording 2020's The Sanguinary Impetus. They returned in 2024 with the Colin Marston-produced Chronicles of Lunacy.
