Vicious Rumors

Founded in 1980, American power and groove metal band Vicious Rumors deserve credit for stubbornly remaining true to their musical identity and sound. They consistently deliver heartfelt, fashion-resistant music that fans appreciate, often to the point of devotion. Soldiers of the Night, their 1985 debut, was met with nearly unanimous praise in North America. 1988's Digital Dictator and 1990's eponymous record fared equally well. 1991's Welcome to the Ball, 1996's Something Burning, and 1998's Cyberchrist, saw their reputation spread across Europe. 2000's groove-laden Sadistic Symphony didn't sacrifice heaviness. 2006's Warball garnered universal acclaim. During the next several years lineup changes over numerous releases were nearly wholesale, but 2016's Concussion Protocol saw the band return to full power and form. 2020's Celebration Decay was followed by 2022's retrospective box set, The Atlantic Years. In August 2025, they returned with The Devil's Asylum on Avalon.
