Malevolence

British quintet Malevolence produce an uncompromising blend of sludgy metal and brutal metallic hardcore, without ever sounding like a generic "metalcore" band. Formed in 2010 in Sheffield, England, the band started out in the local scene, releasing their first album, Reign of Suffering, in 2013 to immediate critical success. They toured Europe and the U.S., and in 2017 released their second album, Self Supremacy. After playing the huge Download Festival, they launched their own MLVLTD label and built their own rehearsal space, giving them greater creative control and flexibility. In 2020 they released the EP The Other Side, which saw them adopting a more progressive, introspective sound. Their third album, Malicious Intent, appeared in 2022 after a deal with Nuclear Blast. The quintet leveled up with 2025’s assured Where Only the Truth Is Spoken -- a punitive and emotionally charged effort featuring Lamb of God's Randy Blythe.
