In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I was watching a parade in Tampa with my parents and saw folks playing the flute in the different bands and I was hooked. I joined the band in the fourth grade playing the flute and have not looked back since. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Dave Valentin, Dave Valentin: Live At The Blue Note Jean-Pierre Rampal, Jean-Pierre Rampal Plays Schubert, Schumann & Debussy (Studio Recordings 1951, 1955 & 1958) Nestor Torres, Treasures of the Heart As a crossover classical-jazz flutist, they have been my inspiration. They help me to want to be the best that I can be as a classical and jazz artist. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Tonight My Love” This song reminds me of the old black and white movies from the nineteen fifties taking place in a smokey bar where a guy and a woman are sitting at a table listening to the band. Even if the acting was bad, the music was usually pretty cool. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? In my prior life (twenties/thirties) I was fortunate enough to have performed or toured with several major recording acts (flutes, tenor sax, and electric bass). The second one was when I received my doctorate in flute performance. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I still love to perform and plan to set up a mini tour in the upcoming months. I have written and recorded all new original music over the last year. I plan to release several of my new albums also.
