About Billy Taylor
Pianist Billy Taylor has become best known as one of the most experienced and respected figures in jazz education in America. He was musical director of the first jazz series produced by the National Education TV network, co-founded NYC's Jazzmobile programs, and in the early '70s served as musical director of the David Frost Show. He has hosted and produced programs for NPR, and has been a longtime arts correspondent for CBS Sunday Morning. His talents as a stylistically versatile piano player, first presented in a series of trio recordings in the 1950s, began to be more amply displayed again on record in the '80s and '90s.
