Buddha Bar

Music is an integral part of the French restaurant and hotel franchise Buddha-Bar, which is known internationally for its popular chillout compilations as well as its upscale lounges. Beginning with 1999's Buddha-Bar, mixed by brand co-founder and resident DJ Claude Challe, the series has regularly issued eclectic mixes and compilations with an ear for international fusion, blending ambient, lounge, house, and numerous global genres. The albums often devote one disc to mellower fare intended as background music for dining, and another disc of uptempo tracks for dancing. Other DJs who frequently mix volumes of the series include DJ Ravin, David Visan, and Sam Popat. The Buddha-Bar series has dedicated volumes to specific beaches and travel destinations, and has periodically issued best-of retrospectives. The series was up to Buddha-Bar XXVIII in 2026, which also saw the release of Summer Sessions Ibiza.
