About Crowder
Crowder is the stage name of American Christian singer-songwriter David Wallace Crowder, whose music combines religious lyrics and themes with a folktronica sound. ∙ Influenced by the music of Willie Nelson, Olivia Newton-John, and Southern gospel singer Bill Gaither, Crowder began writing songs while at college. ∙ In 1996 he formed the David Crowder Band, which released nine albums and won eight GMA Dove Awards before breaking up in 2012. ∙ “I Am,” his first solo single, hit No. 3 on Billboard’s Christian Songs chart and was ranked No. 8 on Worship Leader’s Top 20 Songs of 2014 list. ∙ His acclaimed first solo album, 2014’s Neon Steeple, topped Billboard’s Christian Albums chart and made it to No. 9 on the Billboard 200. ∙ “Let It Rain (Is There Anybody),” his 2018 duet with gospel singer Mandisa, was his sixth solo single to crack the Billboard Hot Christian Songs Top 10. ∙ “Wildfire,” a standout track from 2018’s I Know a Ghost, won the 2019 GMA Dove Award for Rock/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year.
