About The Thumbs

Hailing from the Washington, D.C., area, the Thumbs began their punk of snotty antics that looked up to the 1977-era of The Ramones, The Dead Boys and The New York Dolls. Added with their own sense pop-punk, the original line up began in 1995 with Bobby Borte (guitar/ vocals), Mark Minnig (bass/ vocals), Mike Hall (guitar/ vocals), and Randy Davis (drums). Following their 1996 self-titled EP on Sneezeguard Records, a perpetual touring schedule and a revolving line of drummer would frequent The Thumbs for a number of years. Upon releasing the Sweet Merciful Crap, It's the Thumbs EP in 1997, the lineup would eventually shorten to a three-piece in 1998 with Mark Minnig's departure. Continuing on with Mike Hall moving on to bass and Friendly Pat taking over on drums, Soda Jerk Records released the Thumbs' first full-length entitled Make America Strong in 1998. All Lesser Devils followed in 2000 and Last Match appeared the following spring. ~ Mike DaRonco
