About Led Bib

British avant-garde jazz ensemble Led Bib is a progressive, stylistically varied group that touches on everything from swinging post-bop to skronky free jazz, with a healthy dose of neo-prog and noise rock. Formed in 2003 by drummer/composer Mark Holub, the band draws on such inspirations as saxophonist Ornette Coleman, downtown firebrand John Zorn, free jazz icon Sun Ra, and even '60s psych rocker Captain Beefheart. Led Bib released Arboretum, their debut, in 2005 and sophomore title Sizewell Tea, a year later. Both won critical notice. The group's third album, Sensible Shoes, was issued by Cuneiform and was nominated for the 2009 Mercury Prize. They continued to expand their sound, on genre-bending albums like 2014's The Good Egg and 2017's Umbrella Weather. In 2025 they issued Hotel Pupik, their debut as a quartet. ~ Matt Collar
