Jan Willem de Vriend

Conductor Jan Willem de Vriend is equally well known as a historical performance specialist and conductor of modern symphonic ensembles. He founded and for many years led the Combattimento Consort Amsterdam, an important early music group. He has issued complete cycles of the symphonies of Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Schubert. For many years, he has recorded for the Challenge Classics label. For CPO, with the NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, he has issued several albums of music by the little-known German symphonist Emilie Mayer.
